FRAYSER INVITATIONAL RESULTS

March 29, 2008  Terry Spencer took some Columbia Judo club members to the Frayser Judo Club tournament in Memphis Tennessee.

The tournament was a success and an enjoyable experience. Members who participated were: Jeff Payne, Mike Smith, John Pepper, Elliot Hogan, John Spencer, Dylan Spencer, Sam Smith, Logan Smith and Jake Smith.

Judo Clinic

March 21st and 22nd, Master Kim is hosting a Judo Clinic in Memphis.
The clinicians are:
Carrie Chandler – 5 time national champion at 50k
Nick Del Popolov – top ranked 81 k fighter in the country

Both are a product of the Jason Morris school; currently the most successful OTC training site.

2008 Tennessee Judo Championships

The 2008 Tennessee Judo Championships were hosted by Columbia Judo on Feb 16th. Overall the event was a success with 191 registered fighters. Members of Columbia Judo also placed well at the tournament.

Christopher Amick : GOLD.
Mike Westcott : GOLD.
Elliot Hogan : GOLD
Logan Smith : GOLD
Jeff Payne :SILVER
Derek Wilson : BRONZE
Sam Smith : BRONZE

Affiliate members of Columbia Judo also placed well.
Sam Gaskin : GOLD and SILVER. 
Matt Lentz: GOLD.

Thanks to all those club members who helped make the tournament a success, especially Mike Smith and Joe Pickering who forfeited the opportunity to defend the medals they won last year in order to help run the show.
