I have good news from Beijing : Daniel McCormick

I have good news from Beijing. My teammate and roommate Ronda Rousey has won the Bronze medal in the 70 kilo division. She is the first female American to win an Olympic medal in Judo.

Yesterday I had a great day. It was a good change from my usual schedule. My parents have arrived here in Beijing safely and yesterday I brought them into the Village. After lunch I gave them the complete tour of the Village and my building. During our tour, every stop we made I kept hearing “click…click…click.” After I heard it a couple of times I turned around looking for what was making the noise. What I found was my mother using their new camera. Every stop we made she was snapping away at anything and everything in her sight. So please make sure to ask her to look at the photos she has taken on this trip. I’m sure she will be more then happy to show everyone. They have luckily been able to see more of the tourist sites then I have thusfar in my trip.

This morning after watching a few of my teammates fight I met up with my parents at the USA House. This is a building for all the American athletes to come to and “mingle.” It has food, drinks, wireless internet, a gift shop, and TVs that cover the Olympics constantly. It was a very nice and relaxing day. It was here that we watched Ronda win her bronze medal.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to do as much sight seeing recently. Nor have I been out in the public meetings people. I fight in 2 days. It is my focus right now.

Congrats again to Ronda.

Daniel
