Skills Summary: July 28th Saturday July 28th we had a special class honoring Joe Dan for receiving his Black Belt. Congratulations Joe. Sensei Terry invited a guest instructor (Master Ray) who holds rank in Ju-Jitsu, Aikido, and Karate and instructs at the YMCA in Franklin. Master Ray shared 3 techniques.
Strangle escape: Kick the leg to divert the attackers attention away from the strangle attempt. Apply pressure to the pressure points at the elbow (using your thumbs) to break the hold. Control the arm and take the attacker to the ground.
Both hands held behind back escape: Method 1:
thrust your hips back toward the attackers pelvis to pry your hands apart. Grab his ankle with your left hand and wristlock with right hand. Throw your opponent over your shoulder (Similar to ippon seonagi)
Method 2:
Take a large step backward positioning your left knee behind his left knee. Spin your torso and arms such that your left hand pushes his chest. This should cause the attacker to fall over the left knee.
Overhead attack with a stick: As the opponent swings down with the stick, step forward into him placing your right hand on his tricept and pushing him backward. Place your left hand in the small of his back and step through. He will fall.
